Constipation and continence issues are a huge source of worry for parents and children and are a big part of our general outpatient work (as well as quite often turning up in A&E). Often it’s difficult to convey all the information that a child and parent needs to understand and effectively manage their issues in a single consultation.
Written information can be really helpful here, and “ERIC” – the children’s continence charity have loads of great resources either to be viewed online or printed out. They have separate sections with information targeted at children, parents and teenagers as well as a number of online forums, loads of resources as well as a shop.
