A call for participants in a study on overheating in paediatrics – Greener NHS

NHS paediatric hospitals are at risk of overheating, putting patients, staff, and the delivery of healthcare at risk. Hospital in- and outpatients are particularly vulnerable due to their existing co-morbidities and/or their acute illnesses, children are physiologically susceptible and staff with pre-existing health conditions are particularly vulnerable too.

In order for the NHS to adapt to climate change and manage future incidents, we need to understand how hospitals are vulnerable to heat and how it affects patients and staff. Greener NHS are conducting a study to explore this through insights from frontline clinicians and ward managers in paediatric and neonatal acute care. No previous study has focussed on paediatric hospitals and heat, therefore this study will be an important addition to the evidence base.
